Salida 8 has a wonderfully unique layout- each chapter gives a snippet of the life of Isaías and his journey to make a living in the United States. This is followed by Isaías's thoughts put down in poem form. I love the balance of prose and poetry. The story gives a perfect example of what it means to try and make a better life for oneself when against the odds. This is a great addition to any Free Voluntary Reading library, or as a whole class novel when studying immigration.
